The Han Youngsoo Foundation was established in 1999 following the passing of photographer Han Youngsoo, with the mission of preserving, researching, and promoting his photographic legacy. Founded and led by Han Sunjung, the photographer’s daughter, the Foundation has systematically digitized and reorganized Han Youngsoo’s extensive archive, while developing publications, exhibitions, and research projects that continue to introduce his work to wider audiences in Korea and internationally.
The Foundation oversees the artist’s archive and supports exhibitions, publications, and research related to his work. It also serves as the primary point of contact for image licensing, publication permissions, archive access, and other rights-related inquiries concerning Han Youngsoo’s photographs. By preserving and organizing prints, films, publications, and related documentary materials, the Foundation seeks to ensure that the archive remains an active resource for future scholarship, exhibitions, and publications.
Since its establishment, the Foundation has produced a series of major publications, including Seoul, Modern Times (2014), Once upon a Time (2015), Time Flows in River (2017), When the Spring Wind Blows (2020), and And Life Goes On (2025). It has also collaborated with museums, galleries, publishers, and cultural institutions in Korea and abroad, broadening access to Han Youngsoo’s work and supporting ongoing research and exhibition projects. In collaboration with Han's Graphic, the Foundation also develops publications, design initiatives, and a range of cultural projects based on Han Youngsoo’s work and archive.
한영수문화재단은 1999년 사진가 한영수의 타계 이후, 그의 사진 유산을 보존하고 연구하며 널리 알리기 위해 설립되었습니다. 사진가의 딸이자 재단 설립자인 한선정 대표를 중심으로 한영수의 방대한 아카이브를 체계적으로 디지털화하고 재정리해 왔으며, 이를 바탕으로 출판, 전시, 연구 프로젝트를 지속적으로 진행하면서 그의 작업을 국내외에 소개해 왔습니다.
재단은 작가의 아카이브를 관리하며, 그의 작업과 관련된 전시, 출판, 연구를 지원합니다. 또한 한영수 사진 작품과 관련된 이미지 라이선싱, 출판 허가, 아카이브 열람 및 기타 권리 관련 문의를 담당하는 주요 창구 역할을 하고 있습니다. 사진, 필름, 출판물 및 각종 기록 자료를 보존·정리함으로써, 아카이브가 앞으로도 연구, 전시, 출판의 기반으로 지속적으로 활용될 수 있도록 하고 있습니다.
재단은 설립 이후 『서울 모던 타임즈』(2014), 『꿈결 같은 시절』(2015), 『시간 속의 강』(2017), 『연분홍 치마가 봄바람에』(2020), 『그리고 삶은 계속된다』(2025) 등 주요 출판물을 발간해 왔습니다. 국내외 미술관, 갤러리, 출판사, 문화기관과 협업하며 한영수의 작업에 대한 접근을 넓히고 지속적인 연구와 전시 프로젝트를 이어가는 한편, 한스그라픽과 협력하여 한영수의 작품과 아카이브를 바탕으로 한 출판, 디자인 및 다양한 문화 프로젝트를 전개하고 있습니다.
